Tapechair started with a simple yet meaningful question: how can leftover leather find a new place within a contemporary design?

 

Jess is known for its appreciation of leather. During production, smaller pieces inevitably remain; carefully saved, yet rarely brought into view. For Tapechair, this leftover material became the starting point. Not to hide it, but to highlight it and give it purpose.

 

As leftover leather often comes in smaller, irregular shapes, the design embraces this character rather than concealing it. This led to a distinctive detail: two softly rounded leather straps at the back of the chair. Named ‘Tape’, they cover the connection between frame and backrest, making the construction visible, refined and unmistakably Jess.

 

Tapechair is a modern, accessible chair where material awareness, character and craftsmanship come together. A design in which every detail tells a story.
